Building on the momentum from COP26, the UK is positioning itself as a world leading hub for sustainable finance, green investment and environmental business services. Members across our ecosystem are well placed to support the government in achieving this goal, including professional services firms – which employ more than 1.2 million people in the UK – who are providing strategic advice to businesses of all kinds to deliver the net zero transition.
The new Prime Minister should:
- Work in partnership with financial and related professional services firms and the wider economy to deliver effective national net-zero targets and supporting policies for all sectors of the UK economy.
- Boost the capacity of the UK economy to become a leader in energy efficiency and new, clean technologies such as green hydrogen, carbon capture, sustainable aviation fuels and batteries through public-private collaboration, with government creating the certainty needed for investment to flow and supporting innovative funding models through which private finance can be channelled.
- Drive global convergence on sustainability disclosure and reporting standards so the UK can capitalise on its strengths to deliver green and sustainable investments in the UK and beyond.
